What the New Testament letters share is emphasis on Jesus as Lord, with “Lord” understood as the Christ who is central to salvation, life in the Spirit, last things, and all other aspects of both church life and the world at large. Is this consistent with Jesus’ representation of the kingdom of God? Bertold Klappert answers positively, at least for Paul:

By tying salvation to the person of Jesus and by developing Christology along the lines of soteriology, pneumatology, and eschatology, Paul has maintained a consistent and legitimate extension of Jesus’ preaching of the kingdom of God, although he has adapted this to the post-resurrection situation as regards the cross and the resurrection.13
